Michael Ryan
Principal Consultant

Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (hons) from the University of Sydney (1991).
Principal Consultant, Michael Ryan, has over 35 years’ professional experience across a broad range of crop and livestock production systems.
Michael’s professional career began as a trainee agronomist in 1991 at Hay. From 1992 to 2004 Michael worked in the cotton industry based in the Macquarie Valley as a Corporate Agronomist and was an active member of the Cotton Consultants’ Association as it was known then, serving on the Executive for six years.
Michael’s clients range from family operations, with balance sheets of typically $20M to $70M through to large corporate operations producing a diverse range of enterprises including cotton, rice, wine grapes, citrus, tree nuts, vegetables, seed crops, cereals, pulses and oilseeds. Our livestock clients are predominantly sheep and cattle producers.

Duncan Hood
Senior Consultant
Riverina Agriconsultants
Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) and Bachelor of Economics (Econometrics) from the University of New South Wales (2022).
Duncan is an agricultural economist who brings together technical analysis and practical on-farm decision making to help clients make more informed, better decisions. He is excited to be learning about the Riverina region and its wide array of agricultural enterprises, and is keen to apply his skills to assist these.
Before joining Riverina Agriconsultants in 2026, Duncan spent four years with GHD’s Natural Resources and Agriculture team. His work there was mostly agricultural economics at an industry level, including cost-benefit analyses, land use planning, and monitoring and evaluation of research and development programs. He also worked on a wide array of cross-expertise projects including with the bushfire experts, engineers, project managers and government/business advisors.
Duncan grew up on livestock farms in the Southern Monaro and has always worked in Tintagel Pastoral Company, his family’s business. The business mainly produces fine merino wool, alongside beef and lamb. Duncan works on the farm part-time and contributes to the business’s strategy, budgeting, cashflow management and governance.

Bill founded Booth Associates in 1981 and has over 45 years’ experience in commercial agriculture and the water industry encompassing water in its widest context throughout the urban, peri-urban and agricultural sectors up to river valleys and basins extending to the national and international context. For many years, Bill also operated a large-scale irrigation property at Hay.

Steve is a senior ecologist who specialises in flora and fauna inventory, auditing, monitoring and surveying. He has extensive consulting experience associated with assessing, mapping and monitoring vegetation condition and the presence of any associated fauna, vegetation and soil type classification, Habitat Hectares (habitat quality) and ‘Net Gain’ assessments, across a range of ecosystems including riparian, wetlands and terrestrial forests and woodlands. Steve is well recognised in the industry for his ecological understanding and experience, and for his well-organised and professional demeanour.
